Robert A. Mickelsen has been a professional flameworker since 1974. Having no formal art education, he is entirely self-saught, both in technical and aesthetic aspects of his work. He believes strongly in the advancement of flameworking as an art medium and has worked diligently to promote this cause. He has written numerous technical papers, and a regular column for Glass Line Magazine.
